blessed and full term

We have been so blessed by all of our friends and family! I am overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity. We are almost ready for Franklin. His room is coming together. I just need to get organized and we are still waiting on the rocking chair to come in. Then, believe it or not, I think we will be ready!

I went to the doctor last Friday and she seems to think the baby might come early. I was 1 cm dilated and 80% effaced. Who knows really…It is now just a waiting game. I go to the doctor again tomorrow so we will see if I have progressed over the past week. I am starting to get uncomfortable. Hit that hump this week. So, you can pray that Franklin comes early!! And for no complications and that he comes out easy (I can pray for that, right?!)

I had 2 showers last week. The first one was on Thursday. Some of my sweet friends from work threw me a surprise shower. I had no idea. It was so fun and so sweet of them!

The other shower was thrown by my friend Chrissie and a few other girls. It was on Saturday and I was surrounded by great friends and food. Here are a few pictures from the shower.

4 weeks to go!

Well, here we are. I am due 1 month from today. Crazy. I must say, I am starting to feel more and more ready. I am ready to not have a bowling ball in my stomach :) I am ready to have time off work to be with our sweet peanut. I will go back to work 2 days a week starting November 1st.

Franklin is gaining about an ounce a day and is weighing in around 6 pounds (no wonder I am staring to get a bit uncomfortable). I can tell that he is making his descent. I am feeling pressures lower than before. Also, yesterday my feet were SO puffy. My shoes were killing me. Today they seem to be back to normal. Very strange.

Loren’s parents were here this past weekend and left this morning. It was fun to have them. We went to Loren’s wakeboard tournament in Pueblo on Saturday. It was 102 degrees and I am 8 months pregnant-very hot! He placed 2nd, so it was worth it. His mom also took some photos of us with my belly. I will put them up soon. Other than that we were busy getting some projects done. Franklin’s crib is set up. That makes it feel more real and crazy to think there will be a little man sleeping in there before we know it! Now all we need is his dresser, so I can put all of his clothes away. Speaking of which, I have a RIDICULOUS amount of 0-3 months clothes. I got a lot for my shower and my sister-in-law sent a bunch of clothes down too from her boys. Franklin will have 10 outfits a day for the first 3 months:)

My mom comes in on the train Friday for my shower out here in Denver that is on Saturday. Then my dad is driving out on Wednesday to spend a few days and then take her home. It will be nice to have some help getting things ready. I still feel like we have a lot to do. Busy, busy. I hope to have no plans come August. I really want to enjoy the last few weeks of it just being the two of us. However, we cannot wait for there to be three!

Holy HOT Mama!

Remind me, the next time I get pregnant, not to be due at the end of August!! All I can say is I am hot (and not just warm, I mean REALLY hot all of the time!).

Here's what has been going on lately:

-Our thermostat seems to get set colder and colder every night-sorry Lor!
-I seem to add a pillow to our bed every night trying to get more comfortable
-Bending over and getting up from the couch is getting harder each day
-I wake up probably every hour to go to the bathroom
-I eat ice cream almost every night
-I have hit the “emotional roller coaster”. I thought I was doing pretty well with this and I would bypass it. Nope, definitely didn’t. Just ask Loren-he’s a trooper.
-My to-do list seems endless
-I have started getting interesting comments from strangers, such as:
“You really shouldn’t be wearing high heels in your condition.”-random lady in the elevator at work
“Why don’t you keep your fork in case baby gets hungry later”-server
at a wedding we went to, while she was taking our plates after dinner
“You should not be drinking coffee”-lady behind me in line at Caribou
The list goes on and on, I just can’t think of them all right now.
-Franklin’s room is getting closer to being put together. Nathan painted it and my husband secretly had Nathan add robots on the wall. So now we have birds and robots…an interesting theme. I told Nathan not to be offended if I painted over the robots :)
-We are getting new carpet today! I am VERY excited about this!
-I am going to the doctor every 2 weeks now. I went on Friday and his heart was beating at 135bpm and he is trying to turn downward. That explains the tickling in my ribs every now and then.
-Starting to feel huge. I was comfortable for so long and this week has been a bit rough.

Overall, I feel so incredibly blessed to be able to experience all of this. It has given me a whole new perspective of who God is and what he is capable of doing. Loren and I often talk about how crazy the whole process is of having our sweet baby growing inside of me. We are so excited to meet this little mister! I wonder if he will be a little Loren?? If so, we are in for an interesting journey, to say the least :) But I am completely fine with that!

Oh, and I might be starting to waddle a little bit??

Baby Classes-done!

We are officially finished with our baby classes- Whew! Six weeks of A LOT of information. But, it was very worthwhile. We both learned so much. After all, we really do not have a clue about what we are doing. Yes, some of the sessions freaked me out… I won’t go into detail, but overall I understand things SO much better. I’m very glad we took the classes and would definitely recommend them to anyone. We even learned CPR for infants. I hope we never have to use it, but it’s a good skill to have just in case. Next time we go to the hospital, we will leave with 3 of us! So exciting!

We have a busy weekend in store- Lots of projects. Our friend Nathan is going to paint some fun stuff on the wall in Franklin’s room. Loren is going to finish the bathroom (hopefully it gets finished) and move the rest of the office downstairs, so we can have our new carpet laid on Tuesday. I am going to clean and plant bushes! Also in between there we are celebrating a friend’s birthday and have two BBQ’s. I will be tired by the end of the weekend. Our weekends all of the sudden have become not so relaxing. Oh well. We want to be ready for our little mister!

I am feeling big these days. And little Frank is staring to hurt at times. I get heartburn often. Sleeping is not so great. I sleep with five pillows and still it does not do the trick. The good news? I can still see my toes and I am not swollen. I am happy for that.

6 weeks and counting...

I need to take deep breaths often. How is this possible?! Only 6 weeks?!?! Yikes! We have a BIG to-do list! I generally am a planner and relatively organized person but I feel like everything is chaos right now. We were productive this weekend. Projects always take longer than you want them to-such as our downstairs bathroom. It was an unexpected project that has taken a long time. Loren has been working hard on it. We purchased new carpet for our room and the baby’s room. Hopefully that will get laid this week. We moved part of the office, but need to finish. We need to finish the bathroom to clean the basement (bathroom remodel has consumed our whole basement), to move the office downstairs, so we can have the carpet laid, so we can start Franklin’s room. Make sense? I would like the majority of things to be done by the end of July for my own sanity. I’d say that is a reasonable goal. But, we must be busy bee’s the next few weeks and weekends especially. Okay enough rambling about me freaking out…

Franklin is a cantaloupe! He is weighing in at 4 3/4lbs and is around 18 inches long. His fat layers are filling out, which he will need once he is born to regulate his body temperature. Central nervous system as well as his lungs are continuing to mature. IF Frank decides to come early, he would do just fine (please stay in there little buddy). Once you are at 34 weeks, it is considered safe to deliver your baby without any long term health complications.

That’s all I can think of now. My mind is going in too many directions these days. I will post a picture soon. I am starting to feel huge. How lovely :)

baby shower.

We had a fun time in Iowa last weekend. We are so blessed to have so many people that care about us. It also is awesome that multiple people told me they have been praying for Franklin and will continue to. Thank you!!

The shower was Saturday and oh my, was it hot! It was a typical upper 90’s with 90% humidity sort of Iowa summer day. They had lots of sweets- lemon bars, sugar cookies, chocolate covered strawberries, brownies, scotcharoos, and maybe a few more? Needless to say, Franklin was on a sugar high.

It is funny to think next time we are in Iowa, there will be 3 of us! Everyone is so excited to meet you Franklin!
