baby shower.

We had a fun time in Iowa last weekend. We are so blessed to have so many people that care about us. It also is awesome that multiple people told me they have been praying for Franklin and will continue to. Thank you!!

The shower was Saturday and oh my, was it hot! It was a typical upper 90’s with 90% humidity sort of Iowa summer day. They had lots of sweets- lemon bars, sugar cookies, chocolate covered strawberries, brownies, scotcharoos, and maybe a few more? Needless to say, Franklin was on a sugar high.

Here are some photos of the shower.

Katie, Curt and I went downtown to the farmers market Saturday morning. We couldn’t resist these cute onsies. Somehow we spilled on them?
It is funny to think next time we are in Iowa, there will be 3 of us! Everyone is so excited to meet you Franklin!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

That has been the story of our lives the past few weeks. Between baby classes, kickball, weddings and guests, we have not had much time for anything! With that being said, time is going by fast. We only have 8 weeks left until we meet Franklin! We are SO excited to hold him in our arms! I am staying pretty comfortable these days-just REALLY hot all the time. I would not advise one to be 7 months pregnant in the summer. I'm sure I will only get hotter through July and August. I need to take a fan to work. Today I went outside for lunch and did not cool off until I got in my car and drove home with the AC blasting.

Here are a few photos from the past few weeks...

Me at 32 weeks-all the sudden I feel HUGE!
Loren and I at a wedding...always interesting getting a good picture of Lor...he is such a stinker!
Hello pups!
We are headed back to Iowa this weekend. My mom and sisters' are having a baby shower for me. I am looking forward to seeing family and friends. It is always fun having everyone in the same place. I am also craving TropicalSno. I simply cannot wait to indulge in the sugary goodness! Yum!

I promise to post again soon! Happy 1st day of Summer!

Franklin has a cousin on the way!!

My sister, Katie and her husband are having a baby January 10th!!! I am absolutely THRILLED!!!! How fun will it be to have babies 5 months apart?! Sad we live so far away...hmmm...I guess we will just have to drive back and forth more often! Oh, I am just so excited I can't stand it:):)

Week 30 is here!!!

We have 10 weeks left?!?! Ridiculous how fast time goes! I cannot believe we only have 10 weeks left before our sweet baby is here. That doesn’t sound like much time. Oh, but how wonderful it will be to hold my sweet boy!

Franklin is about 15.7 inches long now, and he weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). He currently is surrounded by a pint and a half amniotic fluid, but that volume will decrease as he gets bigger and takes up more room. His eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen.

Here is what we have been up to:

1. We went camping. I did not sleep a wink. Spent the next day on the boat though, can’t complain. Always nice to work on my tan:)
2. Loren has been busy wakeboarding and giving lessons.
3. Kickball starts tomorrow. I can’t play this year but I will be there to support my team on Wednesday nights.
4. We are taking 2 classes right now. Mondays- Infant Care Tuesdays-Child Birth. We are definitely learning a lot.
5. We have REALLY been enjoying our AC. Holy cow, has it been hot the past week or so. I’m pretty sure I freeze Loren out, but I can’t help it. I’m starting to always feel hot!
6. We registered. Babies “R” Us gives me a headache. A little overwhelming!

I love summer. Our calendar is filling up very quickly! Not to mention all the things we need to get done in between. It will all get done. Loren’s parents and my parents are coming out in July. That will be nice to have some extra help for last minute details.

That’s all I have…

Child Birth Class Number 1

Yikes! The class was informative and interesting-however, it kind of freaked me out. After we left I asked Loren what he thought. His response was, “It got me excited!” Excuse me? Excited? How are you excited?! I then told him it did the opposite for me. He said to me, “I guess I’m not the one actually having the baby.” Thank you, for recognizing that our roles in this whole labor and delivery are QUITE different! However, there is no way I would be able to do it without him. So, thank you Loren for your excitement. I hope some of it rubs off on me! Don’t get me wrong, I am over the moon and back about meeting our sweet little guy, but actually delivering the baby…not so much:/ We then stopped to get ice cream at Liks- a nice way to end the night! The class is a 4 week class that meets for 2 ½ hours each time. The instructor is great-brings a lot of humor to the whole subject. And no, we don’t watch a birth video the whole time (in case you were wondering). It was only 10 minutes long. One class down, 3 to go!

Baby Butternut Squash

Baby is growing rapidly now. This week he weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash-yum, yum!) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is getting bigger to accommodate his growing brain — which is busy developing billions of neurons. Every day, about 200 milligrams of calcium is deposited in Franklin's skeleton, which is now hardening. With this rapid growth, it's no surprise that his nutritional needs reach their peak during this trimester (guess I better really eat my fruits and veggies).

I am starting to be overwhelmed. We have nothing done. What if this little guy decides to make his entrance early? We won’t even have his crib and furniture in Colorado until late July-yikes! Please Franklin, stay in the whole time. I keep hearing stories of people having premature babies 6 to 8 weeks early. It is kind of freaking me out. WE ARE NOT PREPARED! I guess if it happens, we will make it work. I will try not to think about it…

I have been feeling strange lately, Very emotional and starting to get some of the lovely last trimester side effects. Not sleeping so well. I am just uncomfortable and I know it will not get any better until Franklin is here. And then, that brings a whole new “sleep schedule”. Okay enough complaining. I am SO grateful to have this opportunity to be pregnant. All and all it is great. I now have lots of strangers (if you will) ask me when I’m due, tell me I’m either small or big, and so on and so forth. Funny how you become almost a target in any public place. Oh, and my belly button is on its’ way to becoming an outtie:)

Happy Tuesday friends!
