a little "ha-ha"
Hadley has been sleeping in our closet the past few days because we have had house guests(my family. I just like using "house guests":)) Don't worry our closet is plenty big for Hads and his pack and play. Love that my child sleeps anywhere! Anywho, yesterday I went in to check on him and he was sleeping with a pair of my underwear! And today he was sleeping with a sports bra and tank! The little stinker- he opens my drawers and pulls items out and then falls asleep with them. Thought it was pretty funny. I wonder what he will have in the morning?! I love that silly boy!

eeekkk!

I haven't posted for a month. We have been busy! Which has been great. We went to Denver, then to Iowa, then to Chicago, and we have had SO many visitors down here. So here are some updates to catch up:
* Kirby's School of Wake is doing well. Loren has been very busy with that. Might be some new things in store...The Ekarts might head to St. Louis?! Who knows...we are praying!
*Hadley and I have enjoyed a few pool days. There is a pool right up the street from us and he loves it!
*Loren and I went on a date Saturday-a beer paring dinner. For me not really liking beer, it was really fun! It was something different to do. The food was fabulous. There were 6 courses and with each course they give you a beer that goes well with the food. Don't worry...the glasses were mini:) The only down part- we sat next to this sweet old man who talked the whole time about us joining the Elks Lodge!*Lexi(Lor's sister) had a baby GIRL!!!
We are SO excited to meet Miss Mya! We are going to Minnesota the last week of July.
I also need to acknowledge my sweet husband. Happy First Father's Day!!! You are truly the best man I could have to be the father of my children. You are so wonderful and I love watching you with Hadley. Thank you for being the best!Hmmm...that's all I can think of. It's been a whirl wind. Hadley is so off nap schedule, it's not even funny. Oh well, I guess I don't really care. He sleeps through the night and that is the most important. I have more pictures to post but the are on Lor's computer, so I will try to get them on her soon.
Happy summer to all!

11 months
Oh my, we are almost there! You will be 1 year old so soon!! Everyday you present us with something new. It's been so fun to watch you learn more each day. You are really into brushing your hair. It all started with daddy doing it to you when he would change your diaper. Now we say brush your hair and you rub your head. Its darling! You have 4 teeth! So, now we brush your teeth. When I saw ", Let's brush your teeth" you take the finger brush and brush your hair:) So cute! You are really into saying, "Da-da". You call everything da-da and probably say it at least 100 times a day. I love hearing your little sweet voice. You like singing . You laugh and smile SO big when I sing to you. Sorry, I'm most definitely off key:) You LOVE the stairs. It's the first place you head to when you have the chance. You are also very confident you can go down them, but you don't have a clue. Going up is a piece of cake for you. We have been so blessed the past 11 months by your sweet self.We love you to the moon and back!
Mama and as you say constantly "Da-da"

10 months
Happy 10 month's sweet baby! I can't even believe it. TO think last year at this time I was getting HUGE and VERY HOT:) I was so ready to meet my little man. You are getting more and more curious. Into anything and everything. You have 2 teeth!! Yay! We had a couple restless nights and some crabby days but they finally made their appearance. The word of choice is "da-da". You do say mama but prefer da-da. Your hair is starting to grow and you don't look so bald anymore:) We took you to the pool and you loved it! The lake was also a pretty good hit. When we take you out, you cry. I guess this means you will be a pro wakeboarder someday...your dad only hopes! Over the past few days you have gotten brave. You are scooting right along the couch, sometime with one hand. I am hoping the walking doesn't happen for a few months-we shall see.
We are still absolutely obsessed with you. I cannot imagine our lives without you. We love you to the moon and back!
(Sorry I need to post a picture. I will do that soon)

These days
Well first of all, weather has been CRAZY down here! The devastation in Joplin which is only a few hours from us is heartbreaking. I cannot imagine. We have had some big time thunderstorms and a few tornado watches and warnings. Last night a bad system went through and I was not able to fall asleep until 3am. The lightening was crazy! And then again today, another yucky storm rolled through. I'm ready for sunny days!

Hadley is quite the handful these days. He has discovered the stairs and is not at all apprehensive to climb all the way up. Watch out!! I feel a little tooth just breaking the surface. He was really crabby a few weeks ago and had a low fever, so we thought maybe he was getting a tooth. I guess we were right. He has been happy this week, hopefully it stays that way.
Loren's family was here last week. It was rainy but we still had fun. It is always fun to get everyone together. Next time we see Lexi and Corey they will be a family of 5! Can't wait to meet baby girl and find out her name!!! My fam comes this weekend. It will be fun to have them as well. We are so blessed by 2 wonderful families!
Other than that, life is picking up a bit. We are starting to get to know people and enjoying time with just our wonderful family of 3. I have done a few sewing projects during nap times and have enjoyed doing some of the things that were too hard to fit in when I was working. Loren has been very busy with media stuff and marketing for Kirby's School of Wake.
Summer down here officially begins this weekend. The town will soon be flooded with people. I must say, I'm ready for it. I'm trying to work on my tan but, I do not want to be old and leathery therefore sunscreen is a MUST!
We have enjoyed boat rides and watching Loren and friends wakeboard. Hadley does pretty well on the boat. Which I'm glad, because that is a repetitive activity down here. I think that is all I have. Please pray for those in Joplin who were affected by the tornado. I truly cannot imagine the devastation they are experiencing. And pray for the rain to stop! :)

Mother's Day Number One
It was my first year to participate! Pretty fun. Hadley just isn't quite old enough to understand what all I do for him;) Loren made me a really cute card with photos of Hads. Imagine it folded...

Becoming a mother has been far more than I ever expected. As a girl, I think we have some natural instincts and you think you might know how you will be as a mother or you'll know how you will feel about your child. Everything I thought before I had Hadley was completely different than I ever expected. Sure I knew I'd love my child, enjoy being around him and doing fun things with him. I had no idea how much joy he would bring. I knew I'd be happy, but I have never experienced this sort of joy. I also never realized the overwhelming love I have for him. When I say "I love you to the moon and back!" , I really mean it!!! Even now, as he has become a little stinker! I know, I know it will get worse.
With all that being said- I now have a new appreciation for my mama. It's crazy to think the way I feel about Hadley, is the way my mom felt about me and still does. I now know how much she loves me. Thanks for all you do and have done mom. From changing poopy diapers to my teenage days to being here now as I begin the fun adventures of motherhood. I couldn't have a better example as a mom.
Happy Mother's Day (a few days late) to all the wonderful mamas out there!!

9 Months!
Oh sweet Hadley. You have crossed over. You no longer are my sweet snugly baby. You are on the go,go, go from the moment you wake. You are very curious these days-into anything and everything whether it makes sense or not. I love that you are clapping. It is your new favorite thing to do. You have discovered how to pull yourself up! As soon as you starting crawling, you wanted to move on to the next thing. We've started finger foods and you love feeding yourself little puffs. It is so fun to watch you figure it all out. You are such a sweet gift from God. I thank Him everyday for you. You light up our lives. We love you to the moon and back!
